The 8 Seasons - Vivaldi/Piazzolla
In 1721, Antonio Vivaldi composed in Italy the four paradigmatic works of his career as a composer, which are definitively part of the most famous repertoire in history: "The Four Seasons."
In this cycle of four concerts for violin and orchestra, one can appreciate how the passage of time is represented through natural sonic landscapes in a programmatic manner. This concept was subsequently canonized by various composers, but it wasn't until two hundred and fifty years later, and an ocean away, that Astor Piazzolla would redefine the four seasons, this time with a landscape more characteristic of Argentina.
Piazzolla's Four Seasons not only evoke the passage of time and natural cycles, but also express the emotions inherent in the daily evolution of those who traverse these seasons.
The concert "The Eight Seasons" aims to generate a constant counterpoint between the old and the new world; the north and the south; the past and the future; the foreign and the native. For this concert, the Camerata Rosario will perform these eight iconic pieces in an interleaved manner, thereby creating a dialogue between Vivaldi and Piazzolla.
